Austria

Hello there, I'm a historian with expertise on the 20th century in Austria and Europe. I'm writing my thesis about cultural and museum policies during the 1930s/1940s/1950s in Vienna. Beside that and more important to you I'm a passionate guide since 2015 who can't wait to make people fall in love with Vienna and its region. I especially guide private groups, families and individuals. Often with a Jewish background since I lived in Israel a couple of years and during my graduation also studied Israel and Jewish studies at Ben Gurion University in Beer Sheva, Israel. I love walking tours. I love food tours. I regularly guide guests through Schönbrunn Palace, Hofburg Palace, Kunsthistorisches Museum, Treasury, St. Stephan's cathedral etc. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Austria

I was born and raised in Vienna, however traveling, foreign countries and foreign languages have always been my passion. Therefore I studied languages, became a teacher for several years and finally made traveling my main occupation. After traveling in Europe for several years, I became a licensed tourist guide in Austria. I wanted to meet people from other countries in my hometown and show them its glorious past, wonderful pastry shops and tell them quirky details about members of the Imperial family.
Vienna has a very obvious, beautiful side along the Ringstrasse, but also more hidden back streets, small alleys, courtyards and lots of less well-known stories.
Vienna was once the capital city of a huge empire, nowadays it is the capital city of a small country. The glorious past is still visible, but there is also modern day Vienna that offers a good quality of life and many green spaces, especially in the old town. A large number of places worth seeing can be reached during a walking tour.
Palaces, passion, art, music. . you name it and we will experience it together.

Long Luna was born in Shanghai, exported to Central Europe when she was 13 (in 1990), grew up/ educated in the land of the castles = Burgenland, former Hungary) and met her better half in the high school. Today the proud "Lin + Maurer" hood has grown to a gender-balanced size of four. Though with an untypical Viennese look but Long is truly Viennese by heart. Simply because: an professional interpreter PLANTS CULTURE! Long holds a master degree in Business Administration of Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration. She grew up in the family business as teenager (bet, she has washed more dishes probably than any same aged academics); worked for airlines and in travel agencies to finance her master degree. After graduation she has worked for various international brands such as Lancôme, Heineken, Nestlé, Aspirin in the German speaking countries with P&L responsibilities. Long loves travel around the globe - next to the English and French speaking destinations she feels extremely homey in Mauritius. Ps: American Senior Managers, attorneys have chosen her service; Chinese influencers, journalists invited by Vienna Tourism Board, Austrian Tourism Board for special experiences are one of her main client.

The soul behind the scenes or: The core beyond your expectations Looking behind the scenes and telling stories has always been my passion. Growing up in Salzburg and the Salzkammergut region, I have loved finding out exciting things in the simplest of things since childhood and passing on what I have found out is actually an even greater one. What good is all that "useless knowledge" if you can't share it? 25 years as a production manager and researcher in film have made me sure that what's behind is more exciting than what you see in the first moment. My enthusiasm for the story at hand sometimes carries me away in such a way that I find it hard to let it fall into secrecy. And then the idea came up to turn all this knowledge and the desire to pass it on into something meaningful. From there it was not far to the training as a guide. Three years later and a few exams later I started to practice this profession and I realize that it is more and more fun to see how people get involved in what I am telling them. As a guide, I don't see myself as a data mediator, but rather as the one who brings the local attitude to life closer to his guests and makes it possible to experience it; this is not possible with pure numbers, data and facts, which are also important, but it is much more important for me to bring out the individual fates and their influences up to the present day. Of course, this may, no! - must sometimes come along with a mischievous wink, it is precisely the irony and humor that make up the actual "flavor" of things. Truth is too important a commodity to be sacrificed to pure objectivity, since it is never black and white and can usually only be found between the lines. I have always been searching for this truth and it is important to me to convey it.

Walking tour of Split, tour of Krka Park and wine tasting.

Pavle was an excellent guide. We spent 2 days with him and it was most enjoyable. First day, we toured Diocletian Palace and Old Town. Pavle was very knowledgeable and the tour was definitely interesting and educational. He was very generous in explaining the history and culture of Split as well as, Croatia. Second day, Pavle and his brother Bosko took us to Krka National Park, which was breath taking. Then, they took us to a vineyard and we had a delightful wine tasting at a local winery. Then they safely drove us back to the city where they showed us football stadium and view of Split.

Great day in Fez!!!!

Mohammed was a great tour guide. Picked us up at the spa after our Hammam experience and then proceeded to take us everywhere we wanted to go. We saw all the important sights and did some great shopping. He was such a kind, considerate man. Can’t wait to use him again in the future Susie Angle, Fort Worth, Texas

Kind and prepared

Kanae was so helpful and caring, she pampered us and made our experience fabulous. We had a custom tailored tour, and she started perfectly in time. She accompanied us along the tour, explaining in perfect English the history and some fun facts of the the things along the route. She was always kind and worrying about us, if we understood all or we were comfortable. She managed our lunch and it was exquisite. I would absolutely recommend Kanae as guide in Kyoto.
