Thank you.
Anton was very prompt and helpful. He was above expectations, guided us through busy Cairo and Giza and had a lot of patience with our 5 year old daughter. :) We served a very tasty lunch together after the tour and celebrated our awesome day! Thank You, Anton!
Thank you Ruxandra for your kind words and your comment that really touched my heart. You are welcome in Egypt at any time. Sunny regards, Aton
Aton was a great guide, very informative and friendly! Would definitely recommend
Thank you Harry. I hope to see you again in Cairo. Sunny regards, Aton
2 stars for replying with short notice and driving better than most other drivers and being amicable. Lost stars for: 1. Only supplying factoids. He knew some dates, names of kings and measurements but no in-depth knowledge or story telling ability. Some information was wrong, e.g. he said the floor of the Valley temple of Khafre was made of granite, when in fact it is alabaster. At the Pyramids of Giza he remained in the car and didn't 'guide' us. His english language ability is good but some words were difficult to understand and some concepts difficult to explain. 2. Hawkers. One of the main reasons I hired a guide was to protect us from the touts, hawkers and scammers that Egypt is notorious for. He claimed it is not his job to do that. In my experience, guides do turn away hawkers and I have seen other guides in Egypt do just that. He didn't just fail to turn away the hawkers but he presented us to them. In fact, he would help advertise their products to the extent I am under the suspicion that he is in collusion with them and perhaps he is cut from the same cloth as them. He was in communication with almost all of the hawkers and the guards working in the tourist sites. Giving and/or receiving money from random people around the tourist areas and giving advice on how to bribe guards, is unusual activity for a guide. 3. Price - I paid 98USD for 2 people. In Luxor, I paid 20USD for a driver for the day who also offered me 'guide' services for 20USD which I declined. This is a more suitable price for Aton's service. Also for reference I took an Uber from the airport to Giza for 400EGP. Verdict - If you have no knowledge of Egyptian history and a few facts would suffice, you just need a driver, want to take photos at the sites and you don't mind being fed to hawkers then Aton's service would suit you for 20-40USD. If you want a more immersive experience with a professional guide with story telling ability then you should look elsewhere. Perhaps not on this site.
Thank you David for your comment. Are you convinced by what you said in your message? I doubt it. You want me to protect you from the touts, hawkers and scammers. Are you so young that you cannot open your mouth towards them? As for the price that you booked, it was written in front of you in advance, and I will not force you to do anything. As I told you, you are not a small child to object after you have booked The only thing I learned from your message is that my guess was correct because I guessed that you are one of the people whose thoughts are always wavering on doing anything. Therefore, I said it explicitly in my first message, thank you for your comment.
Anton had a family emergency and arranged for Abraham to replace him. We were very pleased with Abraham who provided a great tour of the highlights of Alexandria.
Thank you, Dale, for your understanding. The important thing to me is that I planned and prepared everything so that you would be happy. I look forward to you visiting Egypt again. Sunny regards, Aton
